Rule change - Extra Training

The first change to Mystify, for ages, has occurred this evening.

I'm now in a position where I can program improvements and changes into the game and I have started with a simple one. The reasons for it are below.

The section I am busy working behind the scenes on is the loan system. I'm aiming to make it more realistic and set it so that loans are used for the correct purpose. I'm also attempting to stop bits of cheating that occur with it, which I'm sure the honest players are pleased to hear.

There will be more regarding the new loan system once I have actually completed and implemented it but for now I've taken the step of disallowing the extra training of players who are on loan.

This means that extra training can be set for your own players only and not those who have been loaned in. I've cancelled extra training for any players currently on loan so if you were loaning players in and training them, please assign your own players at your earliest opportunity.

The main reason for this is that loans seem to occur on the promise that the player is given training. I know it has been happening for years but it is something I've wanted to stop for years also and I'm only just in a position to do it.

Teams who take players in on loan are usually either struggling for good players or short of a particular position. If it's the former then having to oblige with a promise of extra training means that they can never actually improve their own team which is what the extra training function was created for.

The whole idea of loaning a player to a team is to get the player some regular games to give him experience (if young) and to stop him going down in rating due to the regular games. Therefore, giving him the chance of going up in rating through training is like a double bonus to the loaning team.

It also means that the better teams in the game, who are usually the ones loaning players out, get more than their allocated 2 training slots, whereas the lesser teams get less. This means they pull even further away in terms of squad quality.

I appreciate the training system needs to be improved (and it will be) but for now I've taken this action as a first step.

Loans should be completed to help teams out in a crisis and to make sure your players are playing - not to get their rating increased. In the future there will be another reason which will be to ease the wage bill but that's for another time.

If you aren't happy with the decision then my only apology is for the lack of warning and my own stupidity in not thinking of it being used this way when I first developed the game. The decision means that loans should now be used correctly.

I'll update you on further changes as and when I get them completed.
