Magical European Nights

The Hibs manager celebrated what he called a "Classic magical European night" as he saw his team come from 2-1 down against AC Milan in the Europa Cup tonight, winning the second leg emphatically 6-2.

Having won the previous round against Groningen 2-1 on aggregate, and having lost the first leg in Italy, Jenkins admitted he would continue to rest players in the early european rounds and put faith in rotation and youngsters. Despite a stunning start to the league campaign, Hibs have faded in recent weeks and Jenkins made tactical changes for their European match coming away from the "standard Hibernian style" fans have grown accustomed to.

Jenkins had bemoaned the transfer market in recent weeks as he has failed to spend his budget on developing his squad in areas which are starting to creak with age. "I hope people take note of Scottish football after tonight and hopefully that result helps attract a few new signings to help with our fight on three fronts this season. The league is a marathon not a sprint but rotation will be important and we need cover still in some positions."
