New site - Teething problems

Apologies to any managers who have been automatically signed out of the site, seemingly for no reason, at any point during the last few days. The cause of this would have been due to code for the site being changed in order to fix problems that were spotted.

Unfortunately due to the site nearly always having somebody signed in, it is impossible to upload fixes so that nobody is affected. I just try and do it when traffic is light.

Of course you could have experienced one of the problems that the site had, in which case you should have just received a blank screen. Hopefully you tried again later in the week to find it working as it should. If not, then apologies that you couldn't do whatever it is you were trying.

Thankfully, there have been very few bugs and I think I have caught them all now. I have a nice little system whereby I get e-mailed with any page crashes and I haven't had anything in the last 24 hours so I'm guessing all is well. I'm quite impressed there were so few errors. Obviously having none would be ideal but I haven't seen a web site or software launched yet that doesn't have bugs in it - take Microsoft to be a good (or bad depending on your viewpoint) example!

The errors ranged from not displaying the club a player belongs to on the scouting page to full stops causing problems when submitting transfer bids. I have also made little improvements to the page processing in some areas.

There were also 3 main queries from managers which I have answered here;

Best players link This page was on the old site but has been removed from the upgraded site. The reason is because I realised it was a kind of scouting system for the bigger clubs and wanted to cut out the advantage. The scouting and transfer system is scheduled to be changed in the future anyway and you should find you don't miss this page then.

Manager sites I had a few queries on this, ranging from how it can only be viewed when you are not signed in to the fact it had gone altogether. The fact is, if you are not signed in then you get it on the 'Managers' link. If you are signed in, this link takes you to a list of managers in your division but in the top right you should see the link to view the manager sites.

I'm trying to put more thought into the structure of this site and merge related pages together so that I don't just end up with one great big list of links like the previous site had. If you think a page has been removed then please look in the section it could relate to. The link will be in the top right of a page that isn't displaying statistics (like the 'managers' & 'account details' section) and to the bottom centre if it is (like the 'league status' section)

Primary e-mail address I didn't realise so many people weren't keeping their details up to date with the previous site. If you are struggling to sign in (getting an invalid e-mail message), as many have been, with what you think is your primary e-mail address then please contact us so that we can let you know what e-mail address you have on your account. When you finally sign in successfully then please update your account details.

Hopefully, the fact that you now need your primary e-mail address to sign in will help managers remember to keep it up to date. I suppose the 'account details' section on this site is a bit easier to find than it was on the last site so managers should use it more often. Remember that your e-mail address is only displayed to other people that have signed into the site so SPAM robots can't read it.
