Development update
It's been a while since I gave a development update, so here we go.
Life has become more normal in the UK since July, so I've had less time to develop, plus I gained a slightly broken finger playing football which made using a keyboard quite tricky!
That explains why there haven't been any proper developments placed on the site. However, I have been working on things as and when. The biggest thing being 'assists' - as in which player has assisted a goal.
This hasn't needed much change to the game engine, as it already knows it. However, my attempts to record it, without breaking anything else, are proving tricky - I won't bore you with the details. I think it is now OK, and I'm not missing any (or recording assists from shots that missed) but it still needs more monitoring. Before I splash it in different places around the site (player stats etc), I may just throw it onto match reports, which will give me better visibility rather than trying to work it out based on database queries. It will also give you visibility, which will hopefully mean anything odd spotted by you, can be thrown at me to fix. Once I'm happy, I can remove all the assist data and start cleanly from the beginning of the following season (whichever that may be). I'll spend some time thinking of the best way forwards.
Alongside this, I have switched some pages over to the newer structure - nothing visible to you here, just something I am slowly having to do on each page to remove old, slower code.
I have also fixed a few display issues around the site, added a filter to the shortlist page, and added some minor functionality. Oh, and I'm going to disable loans towards the end of a season.
Hopefully I'll find time to do some more things over the next week or two, and then I can put these changes and fixes live, even if the assists won't be included.
