Romanian title goes to the wire

The Romanian league has a dramatic final day of the season in store this weekend.

THREE sides are still in with a chance of the title. Politehnica Iasi currently lead the way on goal difference over FCM Resita, and in third place, 2 points behind the two leaders are Poli AEK Timisoara.

One of these teams will clinch the championship this weekend, whilst one will even miss out on entering the European cup. All are clear of last years champions Unirea 2002 Focsani who have cemented 4th place.

However Unirea 2002 Focsani still have a major part to place in deciding the outcome as they face current leaders Politehnica Iasi. Politehnica Iasi won the game earlier in the season but there's more pressure on them this time.

FCM Resita could capitalise on Politehnica Iasi even if Politehnica Iasi get the 3 points. With only 2 goals difference between the two sides, Resita can win the title by getting a more convincing result away to Dacia Unirea BrĂ£ila. However, they only won the game earlier this season by 1 goal so getting a victory will be difficult, never mind by a comfortable margin.

If both these teams fail to win then Poli AEK Timisoara are waiting to capitalise and as they face Rapid Bucharest, who they thumped seven nil earlier this season there is no reason to think they won't get the result that they require.

Some other countries have close title races but this is one that I wouldn't like to call and it's going to be close!
