In what is probably going to be the last ever Challenge Shield in Mystify, Derby County took the plaudits with a pretty comfortable 3-1 victory over Stoke in the final.

Derby's hardest tie actually occurred in their first match in the tournament when they needed a late winner to see off Sheffield United but once that challenge had been overcome, Shrewsbury Town and Halifax were seen off away from home before their first (and final) home tie in the Semi Finals where they comfortably overcome Rochdale.

After Stoke City's own comfortable semi-final result, hopes were high that the final itself would be a classic but Derby's overall quality shone through and, despite Stoke scoring with 17 minutes left, they never really looked like they would threaten to equalise and Derby took the shield away with them.
