Freamunde are European champions

Full of confidence following their 7 nil thrashing of Feirense in the Portuguese cup final the previous week, Freamunde completed a cup double with a narrow victory over Italian side Reggina in the European cup final to make up for a very average performance in the league this season.

It's the second time that they have won the biggest competition in Mystify but Reggina made them work for it and must feel frustrated at being so close to winning the competition for the second time.

Daniel Ramos was the hero for Freamunde with a well taken solo effort early in the 2nd half. Receiving the ball just outside the area from Sérgio China, Ramos proceeded to run unchallenged in the area and placed the ball past Geert Thijs' left side. They almost doubled their lead 10 minutes later but the post came to Thijs' rescue after Cursaru tried his luck from a free kick.

Reggina struggled to create many clear opportunities themselves throughout the game with their best chances coming early in the game on 18 minutes. First Stellamans powered a shot towards goal which was well turned away by Tréguer and from the resulting corner, Berthelot headed just wide.

The rest of their chances were half chances at best and it would have taken a fatal mistake by Freamunde to let them back into it.

Reggina do have the opportunity to claim their second European cup title next season, unlike Freamunde who will have to make do with a Europa cup place instead due to their indifferent league form.
